Description of the work

Medical secretarial and administrative staff at Omicron Clinic perform administrative duties to assist physicians and other medical staff. They manage appointments, correspondence, electronic medical records, billings and reimbursements, telephone calls, patient intake and referrals, and other administrative tasks that allow physicians and other medical staff to focus on their medical work at Omicron Clinic.

Main tasks

Medical Administrative Assistant

The primary duties of the medical secretarial and administrative staff at Omicron Clinic include scheduling and confirming appointments with physicians, relaying messages to medical staff and patients, typing and formatting documents (medical reports, electronic correspondence, spreadsheets, etc.), interviewing patients to complete their records, filling out forms for insurance payments and claims, maintaining medical records and documents and ensuring their confidentiality, and providing support to patients.This includes scheduling and confirming appointments with physicians, transmitting messages to medical staff and patients, entering and formatting documents (medical reports, electronic correspondence, spreadsheets, etc.), interviewing patients to complete their records, completing forms for insurance payments and claims, maintaining medical records and documents and ensuring their confidentiality, preparing meetings and taking and distributing minutes, preparing financial statements and invoices, ordering supplies and maintaining inventory, and establishing and enforcing office routines and procedures.

Training and access conditions

  • Hold an ASP in medical secretarial studies.
  • Knowledge of the existing computerized system may be an asset.
