Description of the work

The orderlies working in the Omicron Clinic are responsible for assisting the nursing staff, hospital staff and physicians in their daily tasks. They are responsible for providing basic patient care, such as assistance with toileting, dressing, taking medications, feeding, etc. They may also assist patients with mobility and perform warm-up and rehabilitation exercises. Orderlies work primarily in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, residential and long-term care centers (CHSLDs) and local community service centers (CLSCs). They work as a team with nurses and medical staff to ensure quality patient care and well-being.

Main tasks

The main tasks of the orderlies working in the Omicron Clinic are to assist patients in their daily routine, such as bathing, feeding, turning, dressing, etc. They organize and propose activities to the patients and accompany them to perform them. Training and access conditions

  • Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) or an Attestation of Vocational Studies (AVS) in Institutional and Home Care Assistance or in Support for Assistive Care in Long-Term Care Centre.
  • Training in principles of safe travel for beneficiaries (PDSB).
  • Training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  • Class 5 driver's license and vehicle may be required for home-based workers.
