SIR Training: Quality and Flexibility to Save Lives

Cardio-rescue CPR and AED

Cost per person: 90.00 $CA

Our basic training in CPR, AED use and choking techniques will teach you the life-saving skills you need in cardiac arrest emergencies.

Heart + Stroke's core program for resuscitation focuses on the acquisition of practical skills and essential knowledge that will enable you to respond confidently and effectively in the event of cardiac arrest. This course is specifically designed for students with no medical training or limited experience in the field. It is particularly suited to those whose job requires them to master life-saving techniques in the workplace, or to those who simply wish to develop these essential skills.

On successful completion of this program, you will receive a course completion card in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This card is best suited to meet regulatory, professional or other requirements, and is valid for two years.

Please note that your employer may have its own standards for CPR training and AED use. It is strongly recommended that you consult your employer in advance to ensure that you choose the appropriate course.

Details

Cardio-secours is a program for a wide range of students

Students in this program come from a multitude of professional backgrounds, with diverse training and interests. These include :

  • healthcare and paramedical professionals (e.g., orderlies, nurses' aides, medical technicians, dentists, dental hygienists, dieticians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, administrative assistants in doctors' or dentists' offices);
  • non-healthcare professionals (e.g., security guards, early childhood educators, personal trainers, fitness instructors);
  • volunteers (churches, libraries, community centers or events, clubs, babysitting, etc.);
  • members of the general public (who wish to acquire vital skills related to CPR and AED use).

Cardio-rescue: improvements and new features

  1. The program includes more course options - renewal courses and hybrid training - to meet the needs of a wider range of students.
  2. We have integrated adaptive learning to our hybrid training to enable all students to take the same training, whether they wish to take a full course or a renewal course only. The learning path for new students and those taking a full course will include all course content. Students who have already taken a course on CPR and AED use will follow an accelerated learning path that will adapt to their level of knowledge and confidence in relation to the course topics.
    • Advantages for students who have already taken a course on CPR and the use of an AED: you could save time by taking the online component while ensuring that you achieve your learning objectives. Instead of having to pass the pre-requisite challenge to attend a classroom renewal course, some students can take a more suitable hybrid course to fill in the gaps in their knowledge.
    • Benefits for instructors : you'll be able to reach the minimum number of students per course more easily, since both those wishing to take a full course and those wishing to take a renewal course will participate in the same classroom component. What's more, since they will have completed the knowledge assessment in the online component, students taking the hybrid course will be able to concentrate on practical application and skills assessment in the classroom component.
  3. We have simplified C-level courses (dedicated to adults, children and infants). Rather than simply re-teach the life-saving techniques used in adult care, we have grouped the information into distinct modules and restructured our courses. The emphasis is now on the differences between the stages of care for adults and those for children and infants. This makes for more effective learning.
  4. We have retained our core learning objectives (CPR, AED use and choking intervention techniques) when developing the Cardio-Rescue programMC. We've also added a lesson on drowning, given more attention to the care of women (especially during CPR), and placed more emphasis on the lesson on life-threatening emergency situations associated with opioid use. Finally, we have integrated the pre-requisite challenge option for renewal courses.

Choose the Cardio-secours course that best suits your needs

  • In the classroom :An exclusively face-to-face learning experience. Our classic instructor-led course format combines cognitive learning with practical application and skills assessment to give you a solid learning experience from start to finish.
  • Hybrid training : Online cognitive learning combined with instructor-led classroom practice and skills assessment. Self-paced online training is followed in due course by a shorter classroom component that focuses on skills practice. Thanks to the recent integration of adaptive learning, both students looking for a full course and those looking for a refresher course can take the same hybrid training!
