Description of the work

At the Omicron Clinic, respiratory therapists are health professionals specializing in cardiorespiratory care and anesthesia support. Their role is to assess, treat and manage respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders. They are also responsible for clinical monitoring during anesthesia procedures and for managing problems related to the cardiorespiratory system. Respiratory therapists use a variety of techniques, such as inhaled drug administration and ventilation therapy, to improve patients' breathing and optimize their quality of life. They work closely with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive, high-quality care.

Main tasks

Respiratory therapists

Omicron's respiratory therapists are health care professionals with expertise in cardiopulmonary care and anesthesia support. Their main task is to evaluate, treat and care for respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders. They do this by taking samples such as blood gas and bronchial secretions, performing diagnostic tests such as respiratory volume assessments, and performing clinical monitoring of the condition of individuals under anesthesia. They mix, administer and adjust medications or other substances as prescribed, and insert instruments into peripheral veins or artificial openings. They also participate in health promotion and disease prevention, prescribe smoking cessation medications, manage and operate pulmonary or circulatory equipment and perform radial arterial punctures. These duties allow Omicron's respiratory therapists to provide comprehensive, quality care to patients with cardiorespiratory disorders, using advanced medical techniques to help patients breathe easier and improve their quality of life. Respiratory therapists also work closely with physicians and other members of the care team to develop individualized treatment plans and monitor patient progress. They are responsible for managing ventilatory support and weaning management, and are key members of the care team in ensuring that patients receive the best possible care to manage their respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders.
