Validity periods are determined by Transport Canada according to 404.03 of the Aviation Medical Standards. They may vary according to your state of health - certain medical conditions may result in a reduced validity period or the issuance of a new certificate. temporary certificate pending further investigations.

In accordance with Transport Canada requirements, the aviation medical examination takes place in two distinct stages. The entire process is usually completed in less than a week.
Nurse's meeting

The lower the class, the more stringent the medical requirements. Class 1 is the strictest.
Renewal follows the same process as initial award: nursing appointment for the required tests, then appointment with MEAC doctor for the physical examination and completion of the Transport Canada form. Bring your old medical certificate. If you are medically fit, the new certificate will be issued or renewed on site. Plan your renewal before expiry date to avoid any interruption of your flying privileges.

No. Civil aviation medical examinations are not covered by the RAMQ - they are private examinations required for the practice of an aeronautical activity. Each appointment lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes. The two appointments are usually completed in less than a week according to availability. If you are in good health, a medical certificate can be issued as early as the second appointment. In certain cases requiring further investigations, a temporary certificate may be issued pending the results.
Yes, we offer Class 3 and 4 medical examinations for student pilots starting their flight school training. It is strongly recommended that you take the before enrolling in a school and invest in training - a non-compliant medical condition could limit flying privileges. A medical condition does not automatically result in a refusal - each file is evaluated individually according to Transport Canada standards.
