Nursing care for retirement homes
Discover the nursing services for seniors' residences offered by Clinique Omicron, where our priority is to ensure the well-being and health of our seniors. Our team of nurses provides personalized care directly at the heart of RPAs, ensuring that each resident receives the care he or she needs. Our interventions cover a wide range of needs, from the treatment of minor health problems to the management and monitoring of chronic illnesses, as well as other essential nursing services. Our aim is to ensure the best possible quality of life for residents, through a person-centred approach that respects their needs and environment.
Professional nursing care directly in your residence
La Clinique Omicron offers comprehensive nursing care for seniors living in private residences (RPA) — no travel, no waiting, with a qualified nurse directly on-site. Prescriptions, follow-ups, and treatments are all handled.
Nursing Autonomy in Service of Seniors in Residences
Thanks to the recognized professional autonomy of nurses, our teams can directly assess, diagnose, and treat in RPA, without requiring prior medical consultation. This approach reduces delays, unnecessary travel, and emergency room visits.
No prior doctor's appointment requiredOur nurses directly prescribe appropriate medication for identified health problems during the assessment, within their authorized scope of practice—without waiting for medical validation.
Nurses order the required lab tests based on the resident's condition—blood sugar monitoring, kidney function tests, complete blood count—directly at the residence or through our home collection service.
Each resident benefits from an individualized monitoring plan: blood pressure, blood sugar, oxygen saturation, weight, warning signs based on chronic conditions — rigorous and documented follow-up at each visit.
Independent nursing intervention represents an effective and economical alternative to medical consultation for many common health situations in residences, while maintaining the same quality of care.
A direct link between patients, the clinic and referring physicians
Integrated medical coordination
Each UVO patient is accompanied by a referral professional who acts as a clinical hub. This professional liaises with the attending physician, pharmacy or nursing staff, as required. Information circulates within a secure framework that complies with professional obligations (shared file, consent, Law 25). This coordinating role avoids delays, redundancies and gaps in follow-up. Patients are never alone: they benefit from access to a team that knows them, follows them, and acts quickly in the event of doubt or clinical evolution.

Frequently Asked Questions — RPA Nursing
In-home care, nursing autonomy, chronic disease management, post-hospitalization follow-up, vaccination, wound care, RPA partnerships — all the answers about our nursing care services for seniors in private residences in Quebec.
No. Thanks to the professional autonomy of nurses recognized by law in Quebec, our nurses can assess, diagnose a nursing condition, and intervene directly in residences without requiring a prescription or prior medical evaluation. They can prescribe certain medications and blood tests within their authorized scope of practice. This allows for rapid care, without delays related to physician availability—a significant advantage for residents awaiting a family doctor or whose treating physician is not immediately available.
Our nurses provide a wide range of technical care directly in your residence: wound care (assessment, debridement, advanced dressings for acute and chronic wounds), intravenous treatments, management of urinary catheters and ostomies, blood draws and urine tests, administration of injectable medications, post-operative care, and close clinical monitoring. All of these services are performed according to the standards of the OIIQ (Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec) and meticulously documented in the resident's file.
Medication management in RPA includes: securely checking and preparing medications according to current prescriptions, supervised administration at prescribed times, monitoring for expected and adverse effects, and updating the resident's pharmacological profile. If our nurse identifies a health problem for which medication is indicated within their scope of independent practice, they can also prescribe directly — thus reducing the resident's waiting time. A report is sent to the treating medical team if necessary.
Our nurses monitor the main chronic diseases common among seniors in residential care facilities: diabetes (blood sugar, insulin therapy, diabetic foot care), high blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases (heart failure, weight and edema monitoring), COPD and asthma (oxygen saturation, inhaler adherence), neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, cognitive monitoring), kidney disorders, malnutrition and swallowing difficulties, recurrent urinary tract infections, and conditions requiring chronic wound care (pressure ulcers, vascular ulcers, diabetic wounds).
Yes. Our nurses administer vaccines recommended by the Quebec Immunization Schedule (PIQ) directly in residences, without seniors having to travel to a pharmacy or clinic: seasonal flu vaccine (recommended annually for those 65 and over), shingles (Shingrix), pneumococcal (Prevnar 13 and Pneumovax 23), COVID-19 and boosters, as well as catch-up vaccines based on the resident's vaccination record. A vaccination booklet is updated after each administration, and a report is sent to the attending physician if available.
Yes. Our nurses perform blood draws directly in the Residential Care Facility (RCF) – with an existing medical order or an independent nursing prescription, depending on the clinical situation. Samples are then sent to partner laboratories for analysis. Results are transmitted to the attending physician and documented in the resident's file. This service avoids any travel for residents with reduced mobility and ensures regular biological monitoring without service interruptions. Urine analyses, cultures, and other sample collections can also be performed as clinically needed.
Upon the resident's return to the assisted living facility after hospitalization, our nurse conducts a comprehensive transition assessment: review of the hospital discharge summary and new prescriptions, medication reconciliation, assessment of the current clinical status, identification of warning signs, and implementation of an enhanced monitoring plan. The initial days post-hospitalization are critical – our team provides close follow-up to detect any deterioration early, prevent avoidable readmission, and support the resident and their family during this transition period.
Yes. Our nurses are trained in palliative care and end-of-life support. They provide: pain and comfort symptom management according to the established palliative care plan, adapted hygiene care that respects the resident's dignity, regular communication with the family to inform them of the resident's condition and provide support, and coordination with the attending physician for therapeutic adjustments. The goal is to allow the resident to remain in their familiar living environment – their residence – in comfort, with dignity, and surrounded by loved ones.
Yes. Clinique Omicron offers institutional partnerships with managers of private seniors' residences (RPA). These agreements ensure a regular and planned nursing presence in your residence—weekly visits, presence as needed, or on-call, according to the agreed-upon arrangement. This partnership includes the implementation of care protocols adapted to your residence's clientele, documentation in each resident's file, and communication with families and attending physicians. Contact us to discuss an offer tailored to your establishment.
With the resident's consent (or that of their legal representative), our nurses maintain regular communication with designated loved ones: verbal or written reports after each visit if desired, prompt notification in case of significant clinical changes or situations requiring family decisions, and coordination for medical appointments or specialist consultations. Our nurses take the time to clearly explain the resident's health status and the care provided, ensuring the family remains involved and informed throughout the ongoing care.
Yes. Our nurses integrate a cognitive and emotional well-being assessment into each visit: screening for signs of cognitive decline (adapted standardized tests), identifying anxiety or depressive symptoms, assessing the risk of social isolation, and directing to appropriate resources (psychologist, social worker, doctor). We also offer mental and cognitive well-being workshops adapted to residents based on the residence's needs. The approach is caring, respects each senior's pace, and focuses on maintaining autonomy and quality of life.
Private residence nursing care coverage varies depending on the nature of the services and the resident's situation. Some interventions may be partially reimbursed by private or supplementary insurance, depending on your policy — an official receipt is issued after each intervention to facilitate reimbursement requests. We invite you to consult our Pricing section on the website, or to contact the clinic directly for information tailored to your situation and that of your loved one.
