FAQ

Frequently asked questions about cosmetic surgery

From facial procedures to body treatments, telemedicine and post-operative follow-up - everything you need to know before consulting us.

What types of cosmetic surgery do you offer at the clinic?

We offer facial procedures (blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, facelift, otoplasty), skin corrections (scars, lesions, blemishes), targeted liposuction and excision of benign appearance-impairing masses such as cysts and lipomas. Each treatment plan is drawn up after an individual consultation.

How do I know if I'm a good candidate for a cosmetic procedure?

A surgeon will assess your general health, skin condition, expectations and motivations to determine the most appropriate treatment. Contraindications (active smoking, certain chronic diseases, anticoagulant medication) will also be checked. Realistic goals and good general health are essential criteria.

What is blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)?

Blepharoplasty is a procedure that corrects excess skin and bags under the eyes caused by aging. It can involve the upper or lower eyelids, or both. The result is a more open, rested and rejuvenated look. Recovery time is generally 1 to 2 weeks, with post-operative follow-up by our team.

How long does it take to recover from cosmetic surgery?

Recovery time varies depending on the procedure. Minor surgeries (skin excision, blepharoplasty) generally require 1 to 2 weeks. A facelift or rhinoplasty may require 2 to 4 weeks before you can resume all activities. An adapted recovery plan, including nursing care and precise instructions, will be given to you at the time of your assessment.

Do you offer post-operative care at the clinic?

Yes, our nursing team provides wound follow-up, healing monitoring, timely suture removal and personalized advice to optimize recovery. Post-operative teleconsultations are also available for routine follow-ups that do not require travel.

Do I need a medical referral to consult a plastic surgeon?

No, no medical referral is required to book an appointment. You can contact the clinic directly for an aesthetic consultation. Our team will perform a complete evaluation during the first appointment and present you with options tailored to your needs and condition.

Is a teleconsultation enough for a first aesthetic opinion?

Yes, a teleconsultation allows you to discuss your goals, assess feasibility based on clinical photos, and schedule an in-person consultation if necessary. It is ideal for preliminary pre-operative exchanges and stable post-operative follow-up. A face-to-face meeting remains mandatory prior to any surgical procedure.

What's the difference between cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine?

Aesthetic surgery involves surgical procedures (incisions, local or general anesthesia) to modify anatomical structures - facelift, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, liposuction. Aesthetic medicine includes non-surgical treatments such as injections, lasers and skin care. Depending on your goals, one or the other - or a combination - may be recommended.

How do I prepare for a cosmetic procedure?

Preparation includes stopping smoking at least 4 to 6 weeks beforehand (depending on the procedure), discontinuing certain anticoagulant medications or supplements, eating a balanced diet and staying well hydrated. Precise instructions will be given to you at the pre-operative consultation, depending on the planned procedure.

Are scars visible after cosmetic surgery?

Incisions are systematically placed in discreet or natural areas (skin folds, ear contours, hairline). With proper healing and adherence to recommended post-operative care, scars become barely noticeable over time. Our team will guide you in the use of appropriate creams and care products to optimize results.

Are cosmetic procedures covered by RAMQ?

As a general rule, purely cosmetic procedures are not covered by RAMQ. Certain procedures with a medical or functional purpose (blepharoplasty that obstructs the visual field, correction of a malformation) may be partially covered, depending on eligibility criteria. See our Pricing section or contact the clinic for more information.
