Google reviews and medical clinics in Quebec: Clic Santé, directories and online reputation in 2026

In a world where almost all health decisions start with an online search, Google reviews, appointment booking platforms, and health directories play an increasingly decisive role in choosing a medical clinic. For patients, understanding how these systems work allows for more informed choices. For clinics, it's an issue of transparency and trust with their community.

This article explores the practical workings of these platforms, the rules that govern them, and how the Omicron Clinic is committed to maintaining a level of service that is reflected in its patients' feedback.

What is Clic Santé and how does it work?

Clic Santé (now integrated into the platform Rendez-vous Health Quebec, or RVSQ) is the official system of the Quebec government that allows patients to make appointments online with participating medical clinics in the public network.

Participation on this platform is neither automatic nor permanent. It is conditional on meeting a set of criteria established by the Quebec government, particularly concerning medical practice, the availability of registered physicians, and the type of services offered. The government may suspend or revoke a clinic's access to the platform if concerns are raised about its practices.

It is important to understand that the presence or absence of a clinic on Clic Santé/RVSQ does not necessarily reflect the overall quality of care provided. Many private clinics - which operate outside the public system or primarily offer services not covered by the RAMQ - are not listed on these platforms, while still offering care of comparable or superior quality.

La Clinique Omicron participates in RVSQ for its services covered by the RAMQ, according to availability and participating clinics in our network.

Google Reviews: How do they really work?

Google allows any user with a Google account to leave a review on a business, including a medical clinic. This system has obvious advantages—transparency and patient voice—but also significant limitations that any consumer should be aware of.

The reviews are not verified. Anyone can leave a Google review, whether they are a patient or not, whether they have had a real experience or not. Google has anti-fraud mechanisms, but they are imperfect. Coordinated negative review campaigns exist and can target any establishment.

A negative review can reflect unmet expectations rather than poor quality. For example, a patient who expected RAMQ reimbursement for a private service and did not receive this information in advance may leave a negative review, even if the medical care itself was of good quality.

Clinics can report abusive reviews. Google allows business owners to report reviews that violate the platform's rules (fraudulent reviews, disrespectful content, false information). The removal process is long and not always effective, but it exists.

The overall grade is an average. A rating of 4.1/5 based on 985 reviews, like the one Clinic Omicron currently has on Google, reflects the vast majority of our patients' experiences. The few very negative reviews—often related to billing misunderstandings or unmet expectations—do not represent the standard of our care.

Online notice and demand letters: what the law says

In 2025 and 2026, the issue of formal notice letters sent to patients who left negative reviews received significant media coverage in Quebec. It is useful to clarify the legal framework for this practice.

In Quebec, an establishment can legally contest a notice that he considers defamatory, false, or misleading. Defamation is defined as the communication of inaccurate facts or malicious statements that damage the reputation of a person or organization.

However, cease and desist letters sent to disgruntled patients who express their authentic opinions—even negative ones—fall into a delicate legal and ethical gray area. The right to free consumer expression is recognized in Quebec, and a sincere opinion based on a real experience is generally protected.

La Clinique Omicron has revised its practices in this regard and is committed to responding to negative reviews through dialogue rather than legal action, except in clear cases of coordinated and malicious false information.

How does Omicron Clinic manage patient returns?

We have implemented a structured process for handling patient dissatisfaction:

First and foremost, we encourage any unsatisfied patient to contact us directly—by phone, message, or in person—so we can understand and resolve the situation. The vast majority of dissatisfactions are quickly resolved at this stage.

For more complex situations, we have a patient relations manager who acts as a liaison between the patient and the medical team to find a fair resolution.

We regularly post responses to Google reviews, whether positive or negative, to demonstrate our commitment and attentiveness.

Other health platforms in Quebec

In addition to Google and Rendez-vous Santé Québec (RVSQ), several platforms allow Quebec patients to find a clinic or book appointments online:

Hello-health (bonjour-sante.ca) is the most used Quebec platform for booking medical appointments online. It positions itself as the first artificial intelligence-powered tool to facilitate access to healthcare in Quebec. It includes family doctors, walk-in consultations, specialists, and nurse practitioners. Clinique Omicron is listed there to allow its patients to easily book online.

Rendez-vous Health Quebec (accessible at quebec.ca/sante/trouver-une-ressource/medecin-de-famille-prendre-rendez-vous-en-ligne) is the official and free service of the Government of Quebec. It allows any RAMQ cardholder to book an appointment online with a family doctor, an NP, or a resident physician in a participating public network clinic. It is the reference platform for RAMQ-covered care.

Health Corridor (corridorsante.ca) is a platform specialized in medical coordination and referrals between clinics and healthcare professionals. It facilitates referral pathways in accordance with the requirements of the Collège des médecins du Québec, particularly in telemedicine. It is more of an interprofessional coordination tool than a general public directory.

The CMQ directory (cmq.org) remains the most reliable source for verifying that a physician is registered with the College and has not been subject to disciplinary sanctions. We encourage all our patients to use this directory before any consultation.

Conclusion: The digital health era demands transparency and dialogue.

Digital platforms — Google reviews, Clic Santé, health directories — are valuable tools for Quebec patients. They promote transparency and allow patients to make informed choices. However, they also require critical reading: an isolated review, a temporary suspension of a platform, or a news article never tell the complete story of a clinic.

Clinique Omicron is committed to maintaining a transparent presence on all these platforms, addressing patient concerns, and continuously improving the quality of its services.
