      Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions — Blood Draw in Saint-Hubert

Everything you need to know before your appointment at the Saint-Hubert service point: prescription, fasting, deadlines, payment, and accessibility.

Do you need to book an appointment for a blood test in Saint-Hubert?

We recommend making an appointment to guarantee a slot that suits your schedule and prescribed tests. Depending on availability, some sample collections can be done without an appointment. Please contact us to confirm.

      Do I need a doctor's prescription?

Yes. In Quebec, all blood tests require a valid prescription issued by an authorized healthcare professional: doctor, specialized nurse practitioner, medical technologist, respiratory therapist, or radiology technologist. Prescriptions from naturopaths, osteopaths, chiropractors, and acupuncturists are not recognized in Quebec.

Are blood tests covered by the RAMQ?

Coverage varies depending on the type of analysis, clinical context, and nature of the prescription. Some analyses are eligible for RAMQ; others are private. Our team will inform you of the applicable terms and conditions for your situation when you book your appointment.

Do you need to fast before a blood test?

It depends on the tests prescribed. Some tests require fasting (generally 8 to 12 hours) – notably fasting blood glucose, lipid profile, and certain hormone assays. Other tests require no preparation. Specific instructions will be provided when you make your appointment. You can drink water while fasting.

What payment methods are accepted at Saint-Hubert?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Interac, and Medicard. An official receipt is issued for submission to your private insurance, if applicable.

Do my private insurance cover the analyses?

Most private and group insurance plans reimburse part or all of the costs for sample collection and laboratory analyses. Reimbursement depends on your insurance contract. We will provide you with an official receipt containing all the necessary codes for your claim.

Where exactly is the Saint-Hubert clinic located?

Our service point is located at 4025 Taschereau Boulevard, Suite 1300, Saint-Hubert (Quebec) J4T 2G6. You benefit from ample free parking on site. The location is accessible from Longueuil, Saint-Lambert, Brossard, and all of the South Shore, near the Longueuil-UdeS metro station and major roadways.

What is the timeline for receiving my results?

Most results are available within a few business days after being sent to partner laboratories. Some specialized analyses (microbiological cultures, genetic analyses, certain serologies) may require a longer turnaround time. Results are sent directly to your prescribing physician.

What types of samples are offered in Saint-Hubert?

Our service point offers a wide range of services: blood draws (CBC, blood sugar, cholesterol, ferritin, hormones, tumor markers, serology), urine and stool analyses, throat and nasal swabs, STI screening, hormonal and thyroid panels, pre-employment screening, and medical examination reports.

      Is STI testing confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is respected at all stages—reception, sample collection, and transmission of results. All STI (HIV, hepatitis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis) sample collections are carried out in compliance with Quebec's Law 25 and current protocols. Results are communicated to your referring physician.

Would you prefer a home collection?

Yes, it is possible. In addition to our Saint-Hubert service point, we offer a home sample collection service throughout Quebec, particularly suited for seniors, people with reduced mobility, or those with time constraints. See our Home Collections.

Do you offer services to businesses?

Yes. Our B2B service includes pre-employment physicals, drug and alcohol screening, serial medical surveillance tests (heavy metals, contaminants), and civil aviation and immigration medical exams. Mobile service is available directly at the company's premises.
