Who is the assessment for?

Four situations where a check-up is essential

Even without symptoms, a preventive check-up detects silent risks before they become problems.

Cardiovascular health

Hypertension, cholesterol, cardiac risk - detected before the first signs appear.

  • Blood pressure and ECG
  • Complete HDL / LDL cholesterol
  • 10-year risk assessment
  • Lipids and blood sugar

Cancer screening

Identify early signs of common cancers before symptoms appear, to maximize chances of cure.

  • PSA (prostate) - CA-125 (ovaries)
  • Colorectal screening
  • Breast cancer - mammography
  • HPV and the cervix

Metabolic diseases

Diabetes, obesity, thyroid disorders - silent conditions that progress without obvious symptoms.

  • Blood glucose and HbA1c
  • Thyroid hormones TSH / T3 / T4
  • Body composition (fat/muscular mass)
  • Basic metabolism

Overall health - 40+ years

After the age of 40, a complete annual check-up is essential to monitor all systems and prevent complications.

  • Full vaccination update
  • Mental health and stress levels
  • Bone densitometry (osteoporosis)
  • Nutritional and lifestyle assessment

Understanding prevention

Preventive medicine - act before it becomes urgent

Most chronic diseases - diabetes, hypertension, kidney failure, cancer - progress silently for years before causing the slightest symptom. A preventive health check-up can identify these invisible risks at a stage when they are still perfectly controllable.

«A disease quickly detected is a disease quickly treated - and quite often, a disease prevented.»

Unlike a standard medical consultation focused on a specific symptom, a preventive check-up takes a global view: it assesses your overall state of health, identifies emerging imbalances and gives you the tools to take action before they worsen.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions - Preventive check-ups

Check-up content, recommended frequency, insurance coverage, home screening, professionals involved - clear answers about our comprehensive preventive check-ups at Clinique Omicron, in clinics or at home in Quebec.

What is a preventive health check-up and who is it for?

A preventive health check-up is a comprehensive medical assessment designed to detect health problems at an early stage, even in the absence of symptoms. It's for anyone who wants to get an overall picture of their health: adults without a family doctor, people aged 30 and over wishing to set up a preventive health check-up, high-pressure professionals, seniors, or even companies wishing to offer this service to their employees.

What exactly is included in a complete check-up at Clinique Omicron?

The check-up includes in-depth blood tests (blood glucose, HbA1c, HDL/LDL cholesterol, kidney and liver function, TSH thyroid, vitamins D and B12, tumor markers according to profile), a complete physical examination with vital signs, ECG, body composition analysis, nutritional consultation, kinesiological assessment, mental health screening, review of immunization record and, if medically indicated, additional tests such as ultrasound or bone densitometry. A detailed medical report is provided at the end of the check-up.

Do I need a prescription or a family doctor for a check-up?

No. No prior prescription or family doctor is required to book a check-up at Clinique Omicron. Our medical team establishes the necessary tests during the initial consultation, based on your age, history and goals. The check-up can also complement your existing family doctor's follow-up, without interference.

Why have a check-up if I feel fine and have no symptoms?

The majority of chronic diseases - hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, kidney failure, certain cancers - evolve silently for years before causing symptoms. When the first signs appear, the disease is often already at an advanced stage. A preventive check-up can detect these imbalances at a stage when they are still perfectly controllable, often through simple lifestyle adjustments.

How often is a check-up recommended?

The recommended frequency varies according to age and risk profile. In general, a check-up every one or two years is suggested from the age of 30; it becomes annual after 40 and is considered essential after 50. Certain factors justify more frequent check-ups: family history of cardiovascular disease or cancer, overweight, smoking, sedentary lifestyle or chronic stress. Your doctor will work with you to draw up a suitable follow-up schedule.

Which healthcare professionals take part in the assessment?

The health check-up at Clinique Omicron mobilizes a multidisciplinary team coordinated according to your needs: general practitioner (physical examination, interpretation of results, follow-up plan), nurse clinician (samples, vital signs, body composition), nutritionist (dietary assessment and recommendations), kinesiologist (physical condition and activity plan), and psychologist or medical specialist if required. All results are centralized in a single medical report.

Are check-ups covered by RAMQ or private insurance?

Preventive check-ups are generally not covered by the RAMQ, unless certain examinations are carried out in a specific clinical context that is medically justified. However, most group and private insurers will reimburse all or part of the cost of a preventive check-up. We recommend that you check your coverage with your insurer before your appointment. See our Pricing section or contact the clinic for details.

How soon will I receive my report and results?

Most blood test results and basic examinations are available within 24 to 48 hours. A complete medical report, including all results, preventive recommendations and personalized follow-up plan, is sent to you securely via the patient portal within 24 to 72 hours of your check-up. A follow-up appointment can be scheduled to discuss the results with your doctor.

Is it possible to have a medical check-up at home?

Yes, Clinique Omicron offers a home sampling and examination service for patients with reduced mobility, the elderly, people on sick leave or those who simply prefer convenience. Our nurses come to your home or office as early as 7 a.m., seven days a week. Our turnaround times are identical to those of a clinic visit, and results are transmitted via a secure portal.

How should I prepare for my check-up?

Before your check-up, it's advisable to prepare a summary of your personal and family medical history, a list of your current medications and supplements, your vaccination record if available, and the results of your last known tests. A fasting period of 8 to 12 hours is generally required for blood tests, including blood sugar and lipid levels. You will be given precise instructions when you confirm your appointment.

Can I have a check-up if I'm already being treated by a family doctor?

Absolutely. Our health check-ups can complement your family doctor's follow-up by offering a more in-depth assessment, specialized examinations or a multidisciplinary vision that the usual consultation framework doesn't always allow. The medical report produced can also be shared with your family doctor if you wish, to ensure optimum continuity of care.

Does Clinique Omicron offer health check-ups for companies?

Yes, Clinique Omicron offers flexible corporate check-up programs, which can be carried out in the clinic or directly in the workplace. These programs can be integrated with your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for comprehensive physical and mental health coverage. Assessments are carried out in the strictest confidence - no individual information is passed on to the employer.
